What is Ashiatsu Massage and Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy?
(AOBT) Ashiatsu Massage is a barefoot massage technique using deep compression effleurage strokes that glide over the body. This creates a structural change in chronic soft tissue. Correct application will provide deep relaxation and stimulate the lymphatic system of the body. Ceiling bars are used to support and balance the therapist and lubricant is applied to the body. What is the biggest difference between a Deep Tissue & Ashiatsu Massage?
The amount of even pressure that is applied to the body in barefoot massage can rarely be done by the hands. Since the foot is bigger, it covers more tissue, with the result that greater pressure can be applied without bruising the client, and can be held for an extended period of time, thus stimulating a larger area at one time and increasing a larger amount of circulation. Many clients swear they will never go back to traditional massage after experiencing Ashiatsu Massage.
Who will benefit from Ashiatsu Massage?
These techniques are ideal for those who desire a gratifying and results-driven treatment, those who have chronic lower and upper back pain, mild scoliosis or sciatica, physically fit individuals, larger clients, athletes, and those who can never get enough pressure in a massage . Clients seeking improved posture and movement, pain relief and a state of well being, should consider Ashiatsu. Ashiatsu massage also addresses tight or painful hamstrings, calf muscles, tight IT Bands, tight forearms and so much more! It should be noted that this type of massage service is not for everyone. There are some contraindications to remember and these are as follows:
- Pregnant or trying to get pregnant
- Breast implants within 9 months
- Boils, skin lesions or abscesses, varicose veins
- Recent eye procedures/ Lasik surgery within 72 hours
- Tuberculosis, thrombosis, aneurysm, kidney disorders, recent bowel or hernia surgery
- Any acute inflammatory conditions such as active phlebitis/ cellulitis
- Persons on Coumadin, Lovenox, Heparin or heavy aspirin
- Uncontrolled high blood pressure or a heart condition, pacemaker, stent or shunt
- Rib fracture, osteoporosis in advance stage
- Any recent (acute) injuries or surgeries

Ashiatsu is a form of barefoot massage that allows the therapist to use deep tissue/ compression strokes to glide over the body. Ashiatsu therapists are able to deliver continuous deep pressure strokes that cover larger areas of the body. Bars are used above the table for support and balance. By receiving gentle but deep foot compression and slow Swedish strokes, you will understand why this is called the deepest, most luxurious form of massage. Lotion used for all massages are paraben-free, certified organic and unscented.

She tailored the massage to address my complaints (neck stiffness and migraines) by using muscle cream, warm bean bags, pressure-point techniques (to get the spinal fluids flowing) and Swedish massage with perfect pressure (to coax some tension out of the stiffened muscles). I used their super easy online booking system to schedule an ion detox foot bath, a 30 min stone massage, and a 60 min deep tissue massage and they combined the deep tissue with the stone massage to give me a better price which was super nice of them and when I went the ion detox was like nothing I’ve ever tried before it was so cool and so worth it and then Diana gave me literally the best massage of my life.
